Denver’s newest mobile High Definition Production vehicle is showing progress with the completion of our on-board ethernet wiring.  This system can support up to 48 simultaneous computer or computer network connections.   The system is fully patchable, giving MS1 Engineering staff the flexibility it needs in different on-location environments.

Some statistics:

• More than 1,000 feet of Cat5e ethernet wiring was installed into the mobile production studio
• There are nearly 100 ethernet  connectors on 5 separate wiring systems throughout the mobile high definition studio
• The ethernet system took approximately 40 hours to complete, including cutting custom cables, crimping connectors, and running wiring through a new cable running system.
• The new ethernet system will be used to support MS1’s critical High Defintion computer systems, and it will be used to create a mobile Local Area Network.

2/12/02 – Yellow Gal High Definition (YGHD) completed installation a 15,000 BTU heating and cooling unit in Mobile Studio 1 (an HD multi-camera video production unit). The thermostat controlled air conditioning system delivers comfort and convenience in the main cabin. This exciting milestone proves YGHD is on the fast track to getting the trailer on the road – SOON.

Denver, Mobile Studio 1 is coming!

TV Executive Builds Mobile Studio 1 (MS1), a new HD mobile studio for use in Regional Video productions.

In a tough economy, Production is tight. And budgets are tight. That’s why Television Executive, Blaine Howerton, is launching a new service for Rocky Mountain Regional Video Producers. Mobile Studio 1 (MS1), is an affordable High Definition Video Production trailer.

Currently HD trucks in the region can rent at $10,000 per day (without crew). These “tractor” style trucks are hard to navigate, park, and move from location to location. Additionally, they are overkill (and not economical) for most 3-5 camera shoots.
MS1 was built with portability and low cost high definition production in mind. The 24 foot trailer has 4 full sized equipment racks, an on-board LAN ethernet system, and HD-SDI connections for virtually any type of digital switching and recording system. “We are building the trailer so it is versatile. Since many Production companies already own or rent their own switching systems, recorders, and cameras, we want to provide a flexible workspace which allows them to use their tools,” said Howerton.

The trailer is being packaged with an included wall mounted flat panel HD monitor, an HD-SDI (or SD) video routing system (with a touchscreen), connections for up to 9 cameras (or a combination of a total of 12 video sources), controlled heating and cooling, shore power electrical connection, seating for up to 7 people, and an Engineer in Charge.

MS1 has an iphone based crew communication system. It connects wirelessly with iphones by using LAN based voice over IP technology.

The trailer is targeted to be rolling on Denver area streets in March with a $1500 per day price tag. It will be used at concerts and festivals (to produce jumbotron video feeds), LIVE TV programming, multi-camera internet streaming, and as a multi-camera monitoring solution for film and video production.

“Over the past few years, I have seen the mobile truck industry in Denver virtually disappear. I believe this is because it is generally too costly to rent the trucks. I am changing that,” said Howerton.

YGHDtv has purchased its FIRST few pieces of electronic equipment for MS1.  As we exit from electrical service installation and we enter into the wiring stage of our new trailer, we are preparing for installation of our ethernet computer networking system.

On Monday, YGHD purchased 2 CISCO ethernet switches.  These switches will direct network traffic throughout the trailer.  With up to 24 simulataneous computers or individual pieces of equipment, the equipment will provide ethernet network connectivity for our clients and our projects.

Soon, we will schedule installation of our heating and cooling system!

These exciting milestones prove, MS1 is not only a reality but will soon be a competitor in the Mobile TV truck business.
